July – September
Sharlyn melons are oblong with a reddish orange color and thin netting. They are very thin skinned melons with a sweet white tender flesh. The flavor is a juicy blend of melon and pineapple.
To find a ripe Sharlyn look for an orange color and slight give in the fruit.
Since melons grow on the ground, it’s only logical to make sure they’re perfectly clean on the outside before cutting them. Run cool water over the melon before eating to remove any surface dirt that may remain.
Turlock Fruit melons are picked vine-ripened so they should immediately be stored in a refrigerator. Cover cut melons with plastic and store no more than 3 days.
