Galia Season
July – September
Galia melons are round with cantaloupe like netting on the outside. They have a tight seed cavity and very flavorful light green flesh.
Ripeness
To find a ripe Galia look for a dark golden colored rind under the netting.
Cleaning
Since melons grow on the ground, it’s only logical to make sure they’re perfectly clean on the outside before cutting them. Run cool water over the melon before eating to remove any surface dirt that may remain.
Storage
Turlock Fruit melons are picked vine-ripened so they should immediately be stored in a refrigerator. Cover cut melons with plastic and store no more than 3 days.
