Galia Season
July – September
Galia is a white-fleshed melon with a golden exterior netting when ripe. We source the seed from Europe where it is a very popular variety. It has a refreshingly sweet flavor and is great on its own or as part of a summer fruit salad.
Ripeness
To find a ripe Galia look for a dark golden colored rind under the netting.
Cleaning
Since melons grow on the ground, it’s only logical to make sure they’re perfectly clean on the outside before cutting them. Run cool water over the melon before eating to remove any surface dirt that may remain.
Storage
Turlock Fruit melons are picked vine-ripened so they should immediately be stored in a refrigerator. Cover cut melons with plastic and store no more than 3 days.
